Overview

Suzuki GS1000 Wes Cooley / Yoshimura Tribute Replica

A striking and exceptionally well-sorted 1978 Suzuki GS1000, built as a Wes Cooley / Yoshimura tribute and presented with real presence throughout.

This is far more than a visual replica. The bike has been the subject of a serious performance-led build, with a highly detailed engine specification, upgraded chassis, braking and suspension components, and a six-page feature in Practical Sportsbike magazine. It is a machine that clearly reflects a great deal of thought, engineering and passion.

The engine specification includes Webb cams, gas-flowed cylinder head modified to an eight-plug setup with large inlet and exhaust valves, heavy-duty cylinder studs, Falicon con rods, pinned, welded and balanced crankshaft, straight-cut primary gears, a high-output oil pump and Mikuni RS34mm flat-slide carburettors. Further details include K&N filter pods, a Pingel high-flow fuel tap, Earls oil cooler and lines, and a full large-bore Moto GP Werks exhaust system.

The chassis and running gear have also been extensively upgraded, with 1200 Bandit wheels, Bandit forks with WP cartridges, billet aluminium fork brace, AP Racing front and rear calipers, uprated master cylinder, CP Racetec brake lines, wavy discs, YSS rear shocks, KOSO instruments, Yoshimura frame stiffening kit and a one-off rear swing arm with integral engine breather catch tank.

Finished in classic Wes Cooley-inspired colours, this GS1000 has the look of a period endurance racer with the specification to match. It is a rare opportunity to acquire a properly built tribute to one of Suzuki’s most iconic superbike eras — equally suited to a serious collection, show use or simply being appreciated as a beautifully executed piece of retro performance engineering.

Available now from Lowe Classics, Upper Triley Farm, Abergavenny.
