Mazda MX-5 2.0 Kuro Edition – Fast Road & Track Preparation by SMG Motorsport

LOWE Classics is delighted to offer this limited-edition Mazda MX-5 Kuro, intelligently refined by SMG Motorsport to create a highly capable fast-road and occasional track-day car without compromising the qualities that make the MX-5 so enjoyable.

One of just 400 2.0-litre Kuro Roadster Coupés produced for the UK market, this special edition combines Mazda’s responsive 160PS naturally aspirated engine with a slick six-speed manual gearbox, rear-wheel drive and a limited-slip differential. Its electrically retractable hardtop provides genuine all-weather usability while preserving the open-air experience for which the MX-5 is renowned.

The Kuro—Japanese for “black”—was distinguished by its dark gunmetal 17-inch alloy wheels, contrasting black roof and door mirrors, diffuser-style rear bumper trim, larger sports exhaust finishers and unique exterior detailing. Inside, it benefits from heated stone-and-black leather seats with red contrast stitching, matching leather door inserts, a silver dashboard panel with red accents, alloy pedals, climate-controlled air conditioning, cruise control, BOSE audio and Kuro-specific finishing touches.

This particular example has been carefully developed by SMG Motorsport to sharpen its chassis and braking performance. Its upgrades include:
