Lowe Classics are delighted to offer this exceptional Land Rover Defender 110 XS Utility Station Wagon, commissioned from new as a full custom Twisted Defender build.

This is a very special example, built from a new delivery-mileage base vehicle purchased from Twisted on 13 June 2016, with first registration recorded on 18 March 2016. The base vehicle was acquired by Twisted directly from Jaguar Land Rover as one of the final 240 Defenders to come off the production line, giving this car significant historical importance even before its extensive Twisted conversion.

Commissioned by its previous owner to create the ultimate Defender, this numbered full custom Twisted build began with a complete body-off strip-down. From there, the vehicle was rebuilt with a level of attention, detail and finishing far beyond what would have been possible on the factory production line. During the process, the vehicle was fully rust-proofed, sound-proofed and sealed, before being further customised and improved to a carefully considered specification.

The goal of the build was clear: to create a Defender that remained true to the utilitarian character of the original, while addressing the mechanical, ergonomic and refinement shortcomings of the factory vehicle. Twisted were chosen for their reputation for high-quality workmanship, attention to detail and intelligently engineered solutions.

Particular attention was paid to creating a mechanically robust and highly usable vehicle, with a drivetrain prepared to withstand demanding use and allow for future engine upgrades or swaps without the need for extensive additional modification. The result is a Defender that feels faithful to the original concept, but significantly improved in every meaningful area.

The completed vehicle was delivered to its owner on 4 November 2016 and has been maintained regardless of expense ever since. The accompanying history file is complete and documents the care, maintenance and development of the vehicle throughout its life.

On 20 October 2022, at 63,886 miles, Twisted were instructed to place the car into “ready to sell” condition, with that work alone costing £11,724.89. The vehicle was not sold at that time and has since been used sparingly, while continuing to benefit from further significant work to preserve its outstanding mechanical and cosmetic condition.

Prior to being listed, the car also received a full Land Rover service, further mechanical works as detailed in the invoices, allowing the next owner to buy with real confidence.

This is far more than a standard Defender with upgrades. It is a fully commissioned, numbered Twisted build based on one of the very last production Defenders, rebuilt from new with no expense spared and supported by exceptional history.
